Hello, my name is Michelle and I’m so pleased to welcome you to Soul2Sole Therapy!
Soul2Sole provides holistic therapy treatments in the villages of Borough Green and Wrotham, both based in Kent, not too far from Sevenoaks.
I offer reflexology, aromatherapy and various types of massage. You can find out more about all of these on my treatments page. If you scroll down, you’ll be able to read the story of my journey with Holistic Therapies. Additionally, you can also find answers to many frequently asked questions (both about Soul2Sole and about the therapies in general!).
I’m a country girl at heart — I spent much of my early life in Cheshire, but have lived in Kent since I was 18. I’m of Anglo-Indian heritage but I was actually born in Hong Kong, which is perhaps why I love all things Asian. I love spending time outdoors walking or cycling, and at home, I love cooking (especially Asian and Middle Eastern foods) and practice yoga several times a week.
As I’ve got older I have realised how important ‘quality of life’ is: how sometimes we can take this for granted as we rush about our daily lives. Because of this, I found myself drawn towards a more caring career where I could provide a calm space for people to pause, unwind and recharge.
My first real encounter with Complementary Therapy was back in the early 2000’s. I was working long hours in the City for an Investment Bank, commuting from my home in Kent and going through a divorce at the same time. I’d had a recurrent health issue for several weeks, forcing me to take time off work, getting fed up with being on and off antibiotics. In short, it was making me miserable.
I started to wonder if there was a link between this recurrent infection and my heightened stress levels which could be causing a dip in my normally strong immune system. So, I started looking at different therapies that might help. I’d never heard of Reflexology until that point, but I decided it was worth a try. Well, what a difference that made! After only one treatment my problem had pretty much vanished. A year or so later, having been made redundant from my job, I decided to retrain in Complementary Therapies, specialising in Holistic Massage.
I qualified with an ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage in 2004 but during my training I had been lured back into the world of finance, though this time in a more relaxed countryside environment! Whilst in this job, I continued to treat family and friends with massage. Fast forward to 12 years later, and I found myself at another career crossroads. My passion for Holistic Therapies was still strong, so I decided that this would be my focus going forwards, and I’ve honestly never looked back!
I returned to college once more to gain diplomas in Reflexology and Aromatherapy. I have since undertaken further training in Reflexology for Pre and Post-conception, Indian Head Massage, Massage and Reflexology for Oncology Patients and Baby Reflexology.
The benefits of Holistic Therapy are so important for our wellbeing. Experts estimate that upwards of 90% of disease is stress related. Of course, eliminating anxiety and pressure altogether from our fast-paced lives is almost impossible. However, regular Massage or Reflexology treatments can help with stress management leading to better health and helping us cope with the pressures of daily life. After all, our cars have services and MOTs — why not our bodies?
If you’d like to chat about any of the treatments I offer, I’d love to talk with you. You can get in touch by phone or e-mail, just click here to find the details.
Holistic Therapies & Hospice Care
When I first trained in massage, we were told never to treat someone with cancer. However, following much more academic research this advice had changed by the time I qualified in Reflexology.
At the start of 2019 I started my journey as a volunteer complementary therapist at the Ellenor Hospice, where I treat outpatients, their carers, the bereaved plus the patients who are in the ward for respite or end of life care. To further my knowledge I have attended several training courses at the Royal Marsden Hospital focussing on the clinical use of essential oils in palliative care.
My days at the hospice can be such a rollercoaster of emotions but so rewarding at the same time. The positive effects of complementary therapies for people with life-limiting illnesses has been very well documented and I am proud to play a small part in delivering these benefits.
Holistic Therapies & Disability
I also work with adults with severe learning and physical disabilities at a residential centre near Tunbridge Wells. This is another interesting area of work where essential oils and the power of physical touch are so beneficial.
Most of my clients in this setting are non-verbal and very protective of their own space so can have a tendency to lash out. It takes a lot of patience to work in this environment, but it is so rewarding to build up a relationship over time and see the positive effects that treatment can have for those who face these additional challenges in life.
Extremely relaxing experience. I felt wonderful afterwards and my feet did too.
Would definitely recommend.
Michelle’s treatments are so relaxing and she even sorted a few aches and pains out for me, thoroughly recommend her — go on give it a try!
A really great massage, thank you Michelle. A friendly professional person who makes you feel relaxed especially after a stressful day.
Baby’s first reflexology session a was a success thanks to a very patient Michelle! Instantly cleared out that trapped wind with a great big 💩💩💩
Happy baby = happy mummy — especially after my own reflexology session 😜
Returned to Michelle this morning for the first time since restrictions have been lifted. The masks and limited decor were a little odd but once the treatment started I felt so relaxed.
The stress of the last few weeks for that time were removed. Thank you Michelle professional and friendly as always – I’ll be back soon x
Frequently Asked Questions
Below, you’ll see some of the questions that I often hear as a Holistic Therapist. These include practical questions about Soul2Sole, as well as broader questions about the therapies that I practise.
How many treatments will I need and how often?
The amount of treatments you have is entirely up to you.
Some clients experience an immediate benefit after the first treatment, whereas for others it could take several consecutive treatments for effects to be felt. If you are having a treatment for a specific ailment then weekly appointments might be advisable to start with. If your aim is relaxation and general wellbeing then monthly treatments might be more suitable.
Following your first consultation and treatment, we will discuss all of the options, and decide on the best course of action for you.
Is parking available?
Parking is available at both of Soul2Sole‘s locations in Wrotham & Borough Green.
When visiting me at the Positive Health Centre in Borough Green, there is limited parking available directly opposite, with further street parking available close by on Fairfield Rd.
There is off-road parking available when visiting Soul2Sole in Wrotham (details on booking).
You can find directions to both of our locations here.
What payment methods do you accept?
Treatments can be paid for by card (contactless) or bank transfer.
Will a treatment hurt?
Most people find treatment very soothing and relaxing. However, particular areas of congestion may be tender and the pressure will be adjusted accordingly.
If you have any specific areas of concern, you can let me know during your initial consultation.
I’m pregnant – can I still have a treatment?
Whilst there is no suggestion that Reflexology or Massage can be harmful during pregnancy, I am not currently trained in pregnancy massage treatments so I can only offer Reflexology treatments for pregnant women after the first trimester.
Are there any side effects to Holistic Therapies?
Generally there are no side effects apart from perhaps feeling relaxed and sleepy. Some clients will notice feeling more thirsty and it is a good idea to drink plenty of water before and after a treatment.
If you feel anything abnormal during your session, you can let me know at any time.
Can I still have a Reflexology treatment if I have corns, callouses, bunions, verrucas, or athlete's foot ?
Treatment can be given around corns, callouses and bunions. Verrucas will need to be covered to avoid the spread of infection. If you have Athlete’s Foot then treatment of your feet is not possible, so I would instead advise a Hand Reflexology treatment.
Can essential oils cure cancer?
This may seem like a strange question to include, but sadly there are some Essential Oil companies that advocate the use of certain Oils for treating cancer in place of conventional medicines.
Essential Oils cannot take the place of traditional treatment, however they can help to alleviate some of the side effects that may be experienced during treatment, for example insomnia, loss of appetite, nausea etc.
Receiving a diagnosis and then undergoing treatment is an incredibly stressful time — not just for the patient, but also the whole family. Aromatherapy can help balance emotions and calm anxiety through this difficult time.
